I had it on my agenda to make a few cosmetic changes to my site and spruce it up for the New Year. However, due to unforeseen circumstances there are some big and unexpected changes that will also be taking place.
First and foremost I want to let my clients, subscribers and friends know that my site name will be changing.
In order to avoid confusion between my services and those of another organization, I’ve decided to simply change my site to BridgetHaymond.com – there’s no confusion with that name! With all this change going on, I thought I’d share a few things that would be helpful to you whenever you find yourself going through change.
Change can be stressful – even changes you want can bring a level of stress as you work through the details. However, changes you weren’t planning on have a unique pressure all their own. Here are some things I have learned about processing through unexpected changes:
Counsel from others is vital. Often times other people can see things more clearly and it helps to have wisdom from trusted sources. Sometimes it will mean taking the extra step and getting an expert opinion to clarify gray areas. When looking long range it is important to know why you’re doing what you’re doing and what your desired end result is – what it will look like when all is completed.
Consider the little details. Little things mean a lot and sometimes taking care of them will naturally lead you to an understanding of the big picture. Breaking things down into bite-size pieces keeps the process from being overwhelming. Simply begin taking action on what you know to do and keep the process moving forward.
Commune with God through the process. Not only will this give you peace, but you’ll most likely experience points of growth and gain some wonderful insight from God’s word. This communion will often result in a clearer focus on your long-term goals.
Confirm your connections. Don’t allow unexpected changes to cause you to become isolated. Staying connected to others is vital. For me, the changes I’ll be making also impact my facebook community page. Since I have over 100 likes, I’m not able to change the name, so I had to delete my page and create a new one. If we are connected there, please re-like my new facebook page so we can stay connected there too. For those of you who are subscribers to my blog through Feedburner, you’ll notice the new name right away when you receive my next post. Rest assured that these changes are cosmetic and my new site will still have the same focus of content.
Spiritual Perspective: Proverbs 2:9 in the NLT says it like this “Then you will understand what is right, just, and fair, and you will know how to find the right course of action every time.” It’s important to recognize that sometimes interruptions and intrusions are God’s tools to get you moving in a new direction. He knows which path is right for you and when sudden change is thrust upon you, He’ll guide you and open the right doors for you.
Truth For Your Life: How has greater clarity come to you in the midst of unanticipated changes? What trusted people do you go to for counsel when life takes an unexpected turn? How have you grown in your faith during times of transition and change?
Investing in yourself is the best way to create some real, long-term change for your life. I believe in the promise and potential of your future, so if you’re ready to get moving please touch base with me today and let’s look at how I can help you!
