Action Is The Answer

The belief that everything has to be perfect before beginning something new sometimes derails big ideas.  This can cause you to waste valuable time comparing your big idea to what other people are doing and before you know it days and weeks have passed with no forward progress.  The remedy for this is to take some kind of action, no matter how small, right away and then continue to take action every day.

“Never let the fear of striking out get in your way.” – Babe Ruth

Sometimes fear of failure is the culprit behind these types of delays, but sometimes there is another fear at work.  Fear of success might be the culprit, because deep down you know your idea really rocks and will be wildly successful which means there could be a lot more demands on your time and resources.  Perhaps the details of your success are simply overwhelming for you to think about right now, so you respond by postponing your success.

Often the details that are currently lacking will clearly come into focus as you begin taking small steps toward your dreams and goals.  The learning curve of your experience always brings with it the blessing of new ideas and resources to lead you further down the path. But the ideas and resources won’t become clear until you step out and start taking action.

Success really is a gradual process and rather than seeing setbacks as failures, they can be used them to spur you on in tweaking your strategies.  I have found a great deal of comfort in embracing the notion that many things I try are simply an experiment to test out an idea.  That kind of perspective really takes the pressure off and frees me up to have the attitude of a learner, rather than someone who needs to have things perfect.

Spiritual Perspective: The Message Bible* says it best in James 1: 25 “Whoever catches a glimpse of the revealed counsel of God—the free life!— and sticks with it, is no distracted scatterbrain but a man or woman of action.  That person will find delight and affirmation in the action.”  Faith often requires practical action.  It can seem scary sometimes, but as you take baby steps, God will be there to meet you.

Life coaching is the best way to make your dreams and goals a reality.  This link will take you to my coaching page so you can take action now and start moving forward with clear direction and purpose for your life.

Truth For Your Life:  Have you ever gotten stuck in too much information gathering instead of taking some type of action?  What is the biggest fear you have surrounding your dreams and goals?  If you feel like you are stuck on a looping road, what is the sticking point?  You must make a choice to begin the work, and since the perfect conditions may never exist, it is crucial to identify what is holding you back.  Please click on the link up top to share which action you are committed to taking!
