Broken Heart by CarbonNYC

Life often throws curve balls that can shatter dreams and break hearts.  However, there is hope, and often a greater purpose that beckons us to repurpose, renew and revisit the dreams from our past.

Somewhere between pursuing a career, getting married, having children and experiencing the disappointments of life, you wake up one day to realize just how much has been lost along the way.  Those big dreams you once had seem long gone, out of focus and out of reach.

If you’re in the midst of confusion or discouragement and wondering if there’s still hope to put the pieces of your dream back together and get on track again, the answer is yes, and here’s how:

Revisit ~ If it’s been a while since you’ve even thought about your dreams, start a journal and start writing down what those dreams were and why they were important to you.  Identify the original passion that fueled your dream and what you wanted to accomplish.

Repurpose ~ Even though your life circumstances may have changed, it doesn’t mean you can’t reclaim your dream.  It may take on a different focus and outworking, but you can repurpose it in order to pursue it right where you are today.  Don’t be surprised if a repurposed dream takes on even more meaning than it’s original form.

Renew ~ No doubt you have more wisdom and knowledge today than before, so commit yourself to harnessing your life experience and putting it to work in making your dreams a reality.  Look at the big picture, create realistic goals and identify some baby steps you can begin taking that will bring you closer to realizing your dream.

Spiritual Perspective: 1 Samuel 2:4 in The Message* Bible says it like this, “The weapons of the strong are smashed to pieces, while the weak are infused with fresh strength.”  And verse 8 goes on to say, “He puts poor people on their feet again; he rekindles burned-out lives with fresh hope, restoring dignity and respect to their lives – a place in the sun!”  We all have broken walls that need to be rebuilt, and God is in the business of restoring and rebuilding.

Don’t let disappointments from your past rob you of a fulfilling future any longer.  As a life coach I work with people who desire to get back on track.  I can help you get unstuck; gain clarity on where to focus your time and talents so you can make your dreams a reality.  If you’re ready to follow through on the dreams and goals that God has placed in your heart, this link will take you to my coaching page where you can get started now and renew you God-given dreams.

Truth For Your Life:  Who can you enlist as accountability partners to help you follow through on your goals?  How will you put your life experiences to work in order to achieve your dream?  What are you willing to say “no” to in order to make room for your dream?

Very helpful to me. sometimes dreams seem to be completely broken. I like the idea to believe that God is working on it to rebuild them.

Great points, Bridget, love this: "Look at the big picture, create realistic goals and identify some baby steps you can begin taking that will bring you closer to realizing your dream." My mission of the past two years… 🙂
