Today I have the privilege of sharing with you a book that will inspire you toward a more joyful way of living. Marie Wikle, also known as @Spreading Joy on twitter, wrote Spreading Joy Daily. Marie is truly a woman who is making a difference in the lives of people everyday and her ideas will inspire and motivate you to do the same too! She’ll show you how to harness the power of valuing the little things that make life big, seeing the extraordinary in the everyday ordinary journey of life and choose joy. Her ideas are always thoughtful, practical, common sense ways to make a difference and bring joy to others with little others with little to no cost. Some of them include things such as:
~ Intentionally making one of your weekly purchases or dining experiences at a locally owned and operated businesses as a way to show your support and share some joy in the process.
~ Unique ways to donate extras or unwanted items in a purposeful and meaningful way to those most in need, including extra blankets, gently used magazines and children’s toys.
~ Bring joy to the life of an elderly person by playing a card game or working on a puzzle with them.
~ Sharing your knowledge and experience with someone younger and less experienced is another simple by effect ways to spread joy with someone just starting out in business, ministry or new to college life.
~ The gift of unexpected sweet treats could be as simple as giving someone their favorite candy bar, pack of gum or snack food.
~ Create special moments, celebrating frequently and reminiscing about special memories.
~ Spreading joy through heartfelt e-mails or hand written notes of appreciation to others, including special little notes in lunches, on pillows or in other unexpected places. This includes being specific and making a list of the things you appreciate as a way of letting them know that you do notice and are paying attention.
~ Waving at people, giving up your seat and smiling regularly are wonderful ways to spread joy for free.
~ From baked goodies for co-workers, meals for new moms to flowers from your garden and sharing your craft or hobby handiwork, there are a multitude of simple thoughtful ways to bring joy to those in your midst.
There is a special focus for each month with specific suggestions for each day. Spreading Joy Daily is packed full of ideas to resource you to be a blessing to others, and I know you’ll be blessed in the process too.
