Values For Your Success

Success is a word that generates lots of different images and thoughts.  However, real success is multifaceted and not one-dimensional.  Success translates to all areas of our life, spirit, soul and body and is not solely about financial or social status, nor is it dependent upon a position or hierarchy within an organization.

The values that lead to success encompass overall quality of life and vision.  Here is an acronym to summarize them.

Vision – create a vision board with inspirational photos and phrases

Alignment – keep goals in alignment with core values for momentum

Legacy – commit to a lifestyle that leaves an inspiring legacy

Useful – useful goals have measurable results that further the vision

Endurance  – worthwhile endeavors take time so endurance is key

Success – successful results are balanced and whole life focused

Vision engages your mind and heart in the planning process.  When tied to your core values, there comes a natural motivation and momentum, which propels you forward.

Partnership is highly beneficial.  Enlist the help of a partner who shares your passion and values.  This is essential as there will be accountability to keep you on track and taking action when weariness creeps in.  There is great truth to the old saying, “two heads are better than one”!

Real values are reflected when we include a way to benefit others as part of our plan.  Including others helps us to keep things in balance and keep a healthy well-rounded focus in vision planning and goal setting.  A balanced perspective brings confidence and peace of mind.

Spiritual perspective:  Success is really about a whole life approach to achieving noble, worthwhile goals and dreams that bless us and benefit others.  I like this simple prayer from The Message* found in 3 John 1:2 – “We’re the best of friends, and I pray for good fortune in everything you do, and for your good health – that your everyday affairs prosper, as well as your soul!”  This is what I call real success!

Successful values are a way of life, and a means of running a marathon – not a sprint.  It’s about using your life and influence to leave behind a legacy that is worth being remembered, especially by your family and friends.  Don’t be robbed of your success by accepting the status quo and being okay with things that are just “good enough”.  Keep pushing for the best in yourself in each situation and make it a habit in every area of your life.

You're right Lee, our influence can live on long after we're gone as we are intentional about making life choices regarding our legacy every day!

As always, your comments are spot on.

I totally enjoyed the entire article, but as is the case so many times (at least with me) this particular comment stood out:

"Success is really about a whole life approach to achieving noble, worthwhile goals and dreams that bless us and benefit others."

My mind immediately goes to John 15:16 in thinking about praying and working toward being a person whose influence extends beyond our time here on earth.

    Enjoy the day,
